Urgency and Unity Towards Economic Recovery
Democracy Watch calls for an urgent and united response to the challenges the country faces today. The pandemic has exacerbated various hardships: joblessness, hunger, lack of proper infrastructure, and health security to name a few. Together, the public and private sectors have the tools and capacity to address these issues.
However, coordinated policies and new strategies are needed to maximize these multi-sectoral efforts to stimulate the economy and facilitate the restoration of normalcy. As the economy reopens and the situation in the country stabilizes, this will allow for more avenues for democratic participation of citizens as well.
The private sector is indeed an essential partner in the work to build back the Philippines. The government must continue to recognize this and act with urgency and unite for economic recovery.
